Mayor Josh Huddlestun will administer the oath of office to Bradley Keehn, David Kostbade, and Frank Porras, who were elected to the Board of School Trustees in November. Indiana Code 5-4-1-1 contemplates that the oath of office be administered before the elected official assumes their official duties of office. I.C. 5-4-1-1.2 provides that the oath must be taken and deposited as required by section 4 of this chapter not later than thirty days after the beginning of the term of office. Section 4 specifies filing with the Clerk of the Circuit Court. If the oath is not taken and deposited within the 30 days, the office becomes vacant. The deadline, then for re-elected board members, is to have the oath on file by January 31st at noon. |
