Summary:

Dr. Buffington, Superintendent, will highlight a grant from the John Anderson Foundation in the amount of $5,000.00. The grant was for two purposes. The first was for $1,000.00 for the Hobart High School Theatre Department to use towards the purchase of sewing machine(s) to assist with making costumes for theatrical productions, and second was for $4000.00 that will be used to purchase some new robotics upgrade kits, parts and specialized tournament components, and repair and storage kits for the VEX IQ robots. The upgrade kits will ensure continued use of the existing robots while providing them with important updates from new technologies. The additional tournament components will help bring the existing robots to competition status and enable students to compete in the next competition. Additional components also provide the students with the ability to work on the robots and run tests in advance of competitions.
A copy of the grant is enclosed as well as the email grant award notification from the Directors of the John Anderson Foundation.
We appreciate the continued support from the John Anderson Foundation for our performing arts program and for our STEAM curriculum by supporting our performing arts program and the growth of our robotics programs. Since 2010, the district has received $58,000.00 in grant awards from the foundation.
