Summary:
|
Dr. Buffington, Superintendent, will present and recommend approval for JROTC cadets to attend the 2021 National Raider High School Championship in Molena, GA. The JROTC Raiders will compete for the national championship against the top teams from each state. The competition consists of five different physical and leadership team challenges through the course of the day and an individual competition for the top male and female from each team on a separate day. The cadets will travel in a contracted bus, and the departure date would be on November 5, and the cadets would return on November 6, 2021. There will be 16 cadets in grades 9-12 attending the competition, and there will be no cost for the cadets. Their lodging and meals will be paid from JROTC fundraising and/or funds from the US Army. The Georgia Army National Guard has completed a mandatory safety assessment survey and considers the Raider event a low risk to cadets. Instructors will always be present, and Covid restrictions are in effect throughout the competition and competitive area. Board approval is requested for the overnight student trip for the JROTC.
