Nancy Smith Recommendation - School Meal Prices, 2021-2022.pdf
Summary: The School City of Hobart's Food Service Director, Nancy Smith, will highlight her recommendations for school meals for the 2021-2022 school year.

As required by the National School Lunch Program School Food Service-Account Revenue Amendments relation to the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, school food authorities are required to evaluate their paid lunch prices each year. However, the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) has allowed for the extension of the Nationwide Waiver to Allow the Seamless Summer Option through School Year 2021-2022.

The waiver eliminates the need to collect meal payments, including cash payments, at meal sites. This speeds up the service of meals, thereby reducing contact and potential exposure to COVID-19, and also, facilitates recommendations for safe school meal service as recommended by the CDC.

Mrs. Smith recommended that the School City of Hobart chose to operate under the Seamless Summer Option and accepts the flexibilities of this waiver and not charge students for meals (breakfast or lunch) during the 2021-2022 school year. Adult meals prices will remain at $2.50 for breakfast and $4.00 for lunch meals. The additional milk price will remain at $0.50.
