At the February 4, 2021, Board meeting, the Board adopted Resolution No. 2021-5 that declared an emergency and authorized the purchase of real estate adjacent to school property. The property was being sold at a Sheriff's Sale on February 5, 2021, and was located at 129 North Liberty Street, and the Board authorized the Superintendent to use her best efforts to purchase the property for an amount not exceed $136,500, which the Board found to be the approximate fair market value of the property. The Superintendent was directed to report the result of her efforts in this regard. A copy of Resolution No. 2021-5 is attached.
Superintendent Peggy Buffington will report that she was able to purchase the property at the Sheriff's Sale for the amount of $105,000, which was under the assess value of the property. The Board will be asked to ratify the actions of the Superintendent for the purchase of property at 129 North Liberty Street, Hobart, Indiana.
